Definition
MOQ is the smallest quantity a supplier will sell in one purchase order, set in units, cartons or currency. It can be per SKU or across a whole PO. Replenishment suggestions that ignore MOQ create POs your supplier will reject or reprice.
Worked example
Daily demand is 8 units and you want 45 days of cover after a 20-day lead time, so the raw need is about 360 units. If MOQ is 500, you order 500 and accept higher days of cover — or renegotiate.
Why it matters for replenishment
MOQs push you to order earlier or in bigger chunks. That changes cash tied up, storage risk and how often you hit reorder points.
How OmniRestock uses this
OmniRestock rounds suggested PO quantities up to MOQ and case pack when you create draft purchase orders from replenishment.
