IPI

Amazon Inventory Performance Index — a 0–1000 score of FBA inventory health.

Definition

IPI is Amazon’s Inventory Performance Index for professional FBA sellers. It summarises excess inventory, sell-through, stranded inventory and in-stock rate into a score that can affect restock limits. It is not a profit metric.

Worked example

Excess aged units and stranded listings drag IPI down even if sell-through on hero SKUs is fine. Removing or fixing stranded catalogue issues often moves the score faster than buying more stock.

Why it matters for replenishment

Low IPI can tighten how much you may send into FBA, which breaks replenishment plans that assumed unlimited inbound capacity.

Common questions

What is a “good” IPI?

Amazon publishes thresholds that can change. Treat the account health page as source of truth.

Does buying more stock fix IPI?

Not if the problem is excess or stranded inventory — that can make it worse.

Is IPI the same as restock limits?

Related but not identical. Limits also depend on capacity and category policies.

Is IPI the same everywhere?

The idea is shared, but formulas and marketplace rules differ. Use the definition on this page for ecommerce replenishment.

Do I need software to track IPI?

A spreadsheet works for a few SKUs. Once you have many suppliers or channels, a replenishment tool keeps the numbers current.

Does OmniRestock change my live stock?

Not unless you switch Stock write or Purchase orders on for a connection. Drafts stay drafts until you confirm.
